A polyphenylene sulfide film laminate for
the insulation material of drive motor generators for xEV
TORELINA™ PPS Film

Mounting locations
- Motors
Benefits
The performance of a small, high output motor is supported by a high heat resistance and a reliable design.
This is a PPS-based laminate insulation material that has excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, and hydrolysis resistance to support the high power output, size and weight reduction, and high reliability design of xEV drive motors and generators. The design can be customized according to the environment (temperature/cooling method), providing both design freedom and product reliability.

Features
Heat resistance
PPS films are certified under UL746B long-term heat resistance standards, 160°C
for mechanical properties and 200°C for electrical properties. They are classified as heat resistance
Class F. In addition, the heat resistance categories for laminates are as follows, enabling continuous
use at extremely high temperatures for both PPS and laminates.
・TLT: Class F equivalent
・
Aramid-PPS-aramid: Class H equivalent
Chemical resistance
Polyphenylene sulfide film is extremely chemical resistant to most organic chemicals. It is also very stable against acids and bases.
Hydrolysis resistance
Polyphenylene sulfide film has excellent hydrolysis resistance.
Use Cases

#01
Motors
It is used as insulation material in motors for the slots, wedges, and phase
insulation paper.
In addition, insulation materials can be proposed according to the design, such as
the heat-resistant temperature required for motors and the cooling system required for motors.
(Application examples)
- TLT for motors with Class F heat resistance and water-cooling systems
- Aramid-PPS-aramid laminate for motors with Class F to H heat resistance and oil-cooling to water-cooling systems
